The Alameda Soccer Club Islanders 2013G Red team began its 2023 Spring season with a 3-3 tie against Montclair Soccer Club 2013G Red team Saturday, March 18 at Bret Harte Middle School in Oakland.

The Islanders competed immensely in the hard-fought match against the solid Montclair team. In the 2022 fall season, the same Montclair squad defeated the Islanders 8-0. Several months later the Islanders were able to hold the Oakland team to a draw.

It was the first match of the 2023 NorCal Regional Spring League 10U Region ¾ league season for the Islanders. The draw gives the team a strong beginning for the Islanders compared to how they fared in the fall season. Last fall, the team went 1-7 and finished eighth out of nine teams, while Montclair finished third. Their three goals on Saturday were half the number of goals they scored in the eight-game fall season (six).

The Islanders are next scheduled to play the Mustang SC 14G Pre-ECNL squad on Saturday, March 25, at Ruby Bridges Elementary School.
