Island Arts Series about to Begin

Rhythmix Island Arts Concert Series honors performing arts traditions from islands around the world on the island of Alameda. Presenting four concerts with the theme “Celebrating Diversity,” Rhythmix features the music and dance of Cuba, Tahiti, Japan and Bali, with Bay Area artists Jesús Díaz, Máahealani Uchiyama and Hálau Ka Ua Tuahine, Gamelan Sekar Jaya and Maze Daiko.

Jesús Díaz begins the series Thursday, April 27, with an incomparable orchestra of artists whose talents fuse modern and traditional elements of Afro-Cuban influences within dance music to create their unique, signature sound.

All concerts start at 8 p.m. with food and drink available for purchase an hour before the show. Discount series tickets for all four concerts are available at $75 per person through April 27.
