Hundreds Join Running Festival Fun

 

Running enthusiasts from around the country traveled to Alameda to take part in the inaugural Bank of Marin Alameda Running Festival Oct. 29 and 30.

Chris Bair of Lafayette beat out 289 other participants to become the overall winner in the half marathon race. He finished the 13.1-mile trek in 1:20:19. Hallie Von Rock was the first woman and Alamedan to complete the distance. Von Rock finished fourth overall with a time of 1:23:17. Joseph Del Rosa Chan of Piedmont (1:21:46) came in second and Benton Wong of San Ramon (1:22:26) came in third. Mayor Trish Spencer completed the race in 2:41:04.

The festival also held 10K and 5K races. Kyle Robinson of Hayward bested 272 runners to win the 10k in 36:37. Adam Gardere Jr. of Oakland (38:47) came in second and Zach Vickers of Alameda (39:07) rounded out the top three. U.S. Olympic men’s eight rower Hans Struzyna (39:43) finished seventh.

Will Weekes won the 5k race with a time of 15:41. There was also a one-mile Fun Run for kids on Oct. 29 along the Alameda Point Soccer Field.
