Hornets Volleyball Off to Strong Start
The Alameda High women’s volleyball team is off to a great start to the 2017 season with the team holding an 11-1 record.
After dropping their first match of the year 3-1 to Windsor on Sept. 6, Alameda has rolled off 11 straight victories. This includes going a perfect 5-0 to win the George Mark Volleyball Tournament on Sept. 16. The Hornets dropped just one set in the 11 sets they played.
In their first match Alameda defeated Tamalpais of Mill Valley 2-0 (25-21, 25-20). Then they took down Arroyo of San Lorenzo 2-0 (25-18, 25-23). In their third match up they beat Oakland Tech 2-0 (25-12, 25-15). Next they beat Livermore 2-1 (25-15, 22-25, 15-13). In the final they defeated Redwood Christian of San Lorenzo 2-0 (25-22, 25-19).
The Hornets also defeated rival Encinal 3-1 (30-28, 23-25, 25-18, 25-10) on Sept. 13. The Hornets’ next game is against Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland on Friday, Oct. 3.
