Hornet Taps Fortney

The USS Hornet Museum has named Ray A. Fortney as chairman of its board of trustees and the Aircraft Carrier Hornet Foundation (ACHF). Fortney is taking over for retiring chairman, Jon Stanley. Fortney has sat on the Hornet’s board for six years and, for the last four months, he served the museum at its interim chief executive officer 
He has made a successful career as an executive leadership consultant. He is a partner with Leadership Group Executive Search (LGES), which he helped found more than a decade ago. His professional background includes extensive international experience with major clients in Canada, England, France, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. 
Fortney began his career as an officer in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine program. He earned a bachelor of science in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a master of science in mechanical engineering from Stanford University. He has been licensed as a professional engineer in more than 20 states.
