Hornet Baseball Wins Two Out of Last Three, Record at 8-8
The Alameda High baseball team made its way to 8-8-1 on the season by winning two of its last three games.
The Hornets split a home-and-home with Bishop O’ Dowd of Oakland last Wednesday and Thursday, April 16 and 17. The Dragons won game one, on the Dragons home field, in a 12-2 blowout. The Hornets scored its only two runs in the first inning on a two-run homerun by Trevor Greenley. But the Dragons tied the game in the second inning, scored two runs in the third and fourth and six runs in the sixth inning.
The Hornets rebounded the next day with a 2-1 walk-off victory at Lincoln Park. With the game tied at one in the bottom of the seventh inning, sophomore Mitchell Nakahara hit a liner to right field scoring Ryan Fong for the winning run. Hornet pitcher Joe Riley gave up one unearned run on his way to a three strikeout, complete-game victory.
The Hornets defeated Valley Christian of Dublin in a 5-1 victory Monday, April 21.
