Hornet Alumnus Doss Earns Football Honor
Alameda High School (AHS) alum Keelan Doss was named to the Associated Press (AP) NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America second team for his 2018 season on the UC Davis football team.
The AP second team was announced on Dec. 11. Doss, who will graduate from UC Davis this spring, finished the 2018 season with a career-high 118 receptions for 1,334 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games. Doss led the Aggies to their first Big Sky Conference championship, first-ever FCS playoff appearance and FCS postseason victory. The team finished 10-3 with a 34-29 loss to Eastern Washington University in the FCS tournament quarterfinal.
In addition to his receiving yards total, his Big Sky-high 9.1 receptions per game ranked him third among all players in the nation. Doss had his best game of the season against rival Sacramento State in the Causeway Classic on Nov. 17. He led the team with 16 receptions for 205 yards and two touchdowns. It was one of seven 100-yard performances for Doss this season. He accumulated another 100-yard receiving game against Stanford on Sept. 9. He grabbed 13 receptions for 106 yards.
Last year Doss was named to FCS first team. He finished the 2017 season with 1,499 receiving yards, 115 receptions and nine 100-yard games, all school records. He also scored seven touchdowns. He led all FCS receivers nationwide with 10.5 receptions per game.
After last season Doss considered turning professional, but decided to remain at UC Davis for his senior season and complete his degree. He will leave UC Davis as the most decorated player in program history. He set numerous new records throughout his final season at UC Davis. He leads the program with 321 all-time receptions, 4,069 receiving yards and 19 100-yard games. He also leads the program with three 200-yard games.
Doss is projected to be drafted in the National Football League draft in April. He graduated from AHS in 2014.
