Help Pets Get Home for Holidays

Help Pets Get Home for Holidays

Thanks to the generosity of the Alameda Support Foundation (ASF), Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter will be offering free adoptions just in time for the holidays.Through this Sunday, Dec. 1, the pets at FAAS will cost nothing to adopt. More than 100 dogs, cats, kittens and bunnies are looking to have a festive holiday with a new family.

FAAS will waive the adoption fee at both locations: 1590 Fortmann Way and FAAS South Shore (across from Modern Mouse). Any new pet comes neutered, with all its basic vaccinations and one free visit with a veterinarian. Canine adopters also receive a big bag of toys and $200 of free dog-behavior training.

ASF-sponsored adoptions are a win for everyone: the pet, the adopter and FAAS. With each adoption, the pet gets a forever home, the adopter gets a best friend and FAAS receives the gifts of an empty kennel and a grant of $150 from ASF. The money goes directly to care for the more than 1,000 homeless Alameda pets that FAAS receives each year.

Hours at Fortmann are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday; hours at South Shore are noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. FAAS will be closed today for Thanksgiving.
