Help Make Things Right for Students

Thieves recently stole 50 bicycles and cycling safety gear from in front of Maya Lin School, where Cycles of Change was scheduled to teach bike safety. Cycles of Change helps hundreds of children learn how to bike safely to school and in their neighborhoods every year. The Alameda Sun joins the City of Alameda in asking the community to help set this right.

Donate replacement bicycles at:

  • Alameda Fire Station 4 on Bay Farm Island: 2595 Mecartney Road
  • Alameda Recreation and Park Department office: 2226 Santa Clara
  • Alameda Point Collaborative: 677 W Ranger Ave
  • Maya Lin School: 825 Taylor Ave.

The thieves also stole a truckload of safety gear. These include helmets, bike parts, tools and more. The Sun asks that its readers help replace these items by donating to Cycles of Change at www.cyclesof change.org/donate.

Cycles of Change is scheduled to visit the children at Edison Elementary School next week and other schools throughout the fall. Only through community support can this organization rebuild so it does not have to cancel these programs.
