Help Make Things Right Again

Thieves recently stole 50 bikes and safety gear from in front of Maya Lin School, where Cycles of Change was teaching bike safety. Cycles of Change works to help hundreds of children learn how to bike safely to school and in their neighborhoods. The Alameda Sun joins the City of Alameda in asking the community to set this right.

Bicycle donations are being accepted at:

  • Alameda Fire Station 4 on BFI: 2595 Mecartney Road
  • Alameda Recreation and Park Department office: 2226 Santa Clara
  • Alameda Point Collaborative: 677 W Ranger Ave
  • Maya Lin School: 825 Taylor Ave

The thieves also stole a truckload of safety gear. These include helmets, bike parts, tools and more. The Sun asks that its readers help replace these items by donating to Cycles of Change at

Cycles of Change is scheduled to visit the children at Edison Elementary School next week and at other schools throughout the fall. The community must help this organization rebuild so it does not have to cancel these programs.
