Hate Flyers Found in Two Locations

A resident on the 1400 block of Sherman Street near Central Avenue reported the discovery of flyers with a hate message on the sidewalk outside his home Sunday, Aug. 20.

Alameda Police released a statement regarding the report they received. The statement indicated the resident discovered the flyers at two separate times, and “did not report the incident to the police until he found a second flyer at approximately 3:45 p.m.”

The reporting party did not think the flyers were aimed at any one address specifically. Since no definable target for the flyers could be ascertained, the police are investigating them as a “hate incident.”

Police describe the flyers as “approximately 3 inches by 5 inches, depicting an illustration with a swastika that contained a hate message.”

The image depicts a woman wearing a hijab, with the message, “Help me kill you, stupid.”
