Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July

Longtime Fourth of July Parade Committee members left to right: Kendra Williams, Mark Sorenson and Barbara Price kick off the 2018 Fourth of July Parade (above). The trio will be out there again today, leading the community in what has long been rumored the longest Fourth of July Parade in the nation, and therefore, the world. Word from Price is that in 2020 the City of Alameda may be taking over production of the parade from the volunteer, nonprofit committee. The new arrangement has Sorenson and Price stepping down after more than a decade of service. Give them a wave if they pass by in their golf carts, they and their fellow committee members have played a huge role in the production of the parade over the years. See the Official Parade Program inside this edition of the Alameda Sun for the complete order of march.
