Halloween AWGC Play

The Alameda Women’s Golf Club (AWGC) held its annual Halloween tournament last Thursday, Oct. 30, at Chuck Corica Golf Complex.

They played a net two best ball in the foursome tournament, meaning all four players played each hole with the two best scores counting and the other two being discarded.

The team of Jenny Bae, Ethel Lerche, Maggie Lindquist and Peggy Miller had the lowest net score of the event. The team shot a net 118 in the first flight — handicap of 70 to 107.

The foursome fought off some tough competition as the three next squads all finished within five strokes of the winners. The team of Tai Chewpanich, Chaleen Lee, June Kitapan and Amy Harris shot a net 120 for second place, while the crew consisting of Diane Hughes, Pennie Feehan, Wilda Moore and Cheryl Saxton finished in third place with a net 121. The team of Stephanie Bellato, Rita K Restrepo, Cori Bertucio and Holly Cromer rounded out the top four with a net 123.

The team of Ruby Soo, Barbara Mickle, Jane Sullwold and Sandy Acker won the second flight — handicap of 114 to 131 — with a net 125. The squads of Pam Curtis, Nora Solmoro, Susan Logan and Claire Loud; and Bonnie Kim, Yvonne Lee, Jean Cho and Sonia Kwak tied for second place in the fight with net 129s.
