Golf Club Hosts Weekly Tourney
Vivian Kang and Ruby Soo shared the victory at the Alameda Women’s Golf Club net tournament event Thursday, Nov. 14, on the Jack Clark Course.
Kang and Soo both shot net 69s to sit atop of the leaderboard. Kang played in the fourth flight — handicap of 36 to 38 — while Soo competed in the fifth flight — handicap of 39 to 40. Kang held off Jean Cho who posted a net 71 in the fourth flight. Kay Park finished third in the flight with a net 74. Janet Rhee shot a net 75, while Sandi Kaney posted a net 79 for fifth in the flight.
Soo faced competition from Lynette Mladinich who shot a net 73 for second place in the fifth flight. Bev Blatt shot a net 75 for third place. Siv Richards and Hazel Willacy bot shot net 78s to tie for fourth place in the fifth flight.
Maggie Lindquist won the first flight — handicap of 12 to 22 — with a net 71. Tai Chewpanich shot a net 74 for second place. She also shot the lowest gross score of the event with an overall 86. Claire Loud took third place with a net 77. Sia Scates posted a net 79 for fourth, while Stephanie Bellato rounded out the top five with a net 80.
Judy Eng also shot a net 71 to win the second flight — handicap of 23 to 28. Dot Moody finished a stroke behind Eng with a net 72. Sonia Kwak shot a net 76 for third place. Sarah Valentine finished fourth with a net 79.
Diane Hughes shot a net 73 to win the third flight — handicap of 30 to 35. Louise Eilhardt posted a net 75 for second place. Chris Alibrandi shot a net 78 for third place. Jan Peyrot shot a net 79. Pat O’Hara shot a net 82 for fifth place.
Bellato won the closest-to-the-hole competition on the seventh hole. She shot her ball 32’ 1” from the pin. Maggie Lindquist won the competition on the 11th hole. Her ball landed 2.5” from the pin after two attempts. Thirty-four golfers participated in the tournament.
