Golf Club’s Results
Cheryl Saxton was the big winner at the Alameda Women’s Golf Club’s tournament event on March 20. Saxton blew away her competition with a net 66. Four players tied for second place overall, but they all shot net 71s.
Saxton competed in the first flight — handicap of 10 to 24. Barbara Mickle and Stephanie Bellato each shot a net 71 to tie for second place in the flight. Bernice Herzberg shot a net 74 for fourth place. Eleven people competed in this flight.
Louise Eilhardt and Sarah Valentine took a share of the second-flight competition — handicap of 25 to 29 — with a net 71. Shirley Lee shot a net 73 for third place, while Diane Hughes came in fourth place with a net 74. Eight golfers partook in the second flight.
Pam Curtis and Wilda Moore tied to win the third flight — handicap of 30 to 40 — with matching net 72s. Betty Hatch came in third place with a net 74. Nadine Barbara shot a net 76 for fourth place. Nine golfers competed in the third flight.
Hughes won the closest-to-the-hole competition on the seventh hole. Her ball landed 9’ 6” from the pin. Saxton came in second place with her ball stopping 14’ 6” from the hole. Maggie Clendenin won the competition on the 16th hole by hitting her ball 14’ 1” from the pin. Hughes was second at 22’ 1” from the hole.
Saxton also had the lowest gross of the event with an overall 77.
