Girls Inc. Welcomes New Board Members

The Girls, Inc. of the Island City (GIIC) recently announced that they have welcomed two new members to their board. Board. GIIC made the new members official at their 2022-2023 Board of Directors Installation event on Thursday, Sept. 1. Joining the returning board members of GIIC are Linda Felts and Alice Myerhoff.

Felts is a retired retail executive and has had past experience in leadership roles at GIIC, including board member, president, vice president, and served on several key committees. She also volunteers with the Best Foot Forward Program and the afterschool program.

Myerhoff is head of Myerhoff Consulting, which offers marketing and sales strategy, planning, and execution leadership. She is also the Director of the Board and Corporate Development at How Women Lead, and on the board of Lincoln Families, an Oakland-based nonprofit.

Both Felts and Myerhoff were inspired by the positive impact of GIIC’s programs. They will be working with the returning board members to continue GIIC’s mission of empowering girls and teens in Alameda.

Girls, Inc. of the Island City expressed gratitude toward Pasquale Scuderi, Alameda Unified School District Superintendent, for installing GIIC’s current and new members; Board Member Ann Blake and her husband Greg Bobrowicz for hosting the event in their backyard; and to Board President Carolyn Thomas and CEO Sarah Burton for presenting.

GIIC also extended thanks to Al Wright of Raintree Studios for taking photos, and to Marley G’s Pizzeria, Café Jolie, Dragon Rouge, Julie’s Coffee & Tea Garden, Greens & Grains, Alameda Island Brewing, and CRAFT Beer & Wine for their food and drink donations.

Girls, Inc. of Island City is a non-profit organization with various localized network sites across the US and Canada. They build programs in partnerships with trained professionals and schools that focus on empowering young girls and teens to develop their strengths and apply those skills into enriching and healthy lifestyles.
