Girls Inc. Appoints New Executive Director
Girls Inc. of the Island City recently announced the appointment of Alameda resident Christine Chilcott as the organization’s new executive director. She has served the last four months as Girls Inc.’s interim executive director. She also served as director of program services.
In her tenure as director of program services, Chilcott saw the expansion of Girls Inc.’s services to include nine different schools on the island, covering 41 percent of eligible girls, up from 37 percent.
"The board of directors is confident that Christine’s working knowledge of Alameda’s schools, the needs of its youth and her connection to government and community leaders will serve Girls Inc. well," said board president Andrea Carlisle. "She has demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills in her work for Girls, Inc. to date.
Before joining Girls Inc., Chilcott worked for the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland and in the West Contra Costa School District.
"I look forward to continue making Girls Inc. the go-to place for all-girls programming in Alameda," Chilcott said.
