Free Classical Music Concerts Slated

This summer Franklin Park will host four free concerts featuring classical music by The Alameda Music Project that are open to the public.

The Alameda String Academy will present three Saturday lunchtime concerts, featuring music from Dvorak, Mozart, Vivaldi and Boccherini, along with pre-concert musical crafts and an opportunity for children and adults to try their hands at playing a stringed instrument.

Sandwiched between the Alameda String Academy events, Island City Opera is presenting its first-ever Free Opera Concert, a Saturday afternoon event full of opera favorites.

The concerts begin Saturday, June 21, when Alameda String Academy performs at noon, with pre-concert activities at 10:30 a.m. The String Academy returns Saturdays, July 19 and Aug. 9, at noon.
Island City Opera holds its first concert Saturday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m.

All events take place in Franklin Park, 1433 San Antonio Ave.
