Football Playoffs to Screen at Theater

The Alameda Theatre & Cineplex will be showing a live simulcast of the National Football Conference (NFC) Championship game this Sunday, Jan. 19. The game will pit the San Francisco 49ers against the Green Bay Packers.

The doors open at 2:30 p.m. with the game beginning at 3:45 p.m. Tickets cost $6. Some reserved seating is still available. The game will be shown in the complex’s Historic Theatre.

The San Francisco 49ers are the heavy favorite to win the game. This is the first NFC Championship game for the 49ers in their new stadium, Levi Stadium, in Santa Clara.

The winner advances to Super Bowl LIV in Miami, Fla., on Feb. 2. This is the first NFC Championship game for the 49ers since the 2013 season. In that game they lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 23-17. The year prior they won the NFC championship game against the Atlanta Falcons, 28-24, however, they lost Super Bowl XLVII to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31.

The Alameda Theatre & Cineplex has been simulcasting big sporting events for years. They showed several Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s playoff games in recent years.
