Firefighters arrived and used their atmospheric detector, but found no hazardous gases present in the residence. Crewmembers confirmed improper disposal of painting materials and made all appropriate notifications. They identified the responsible party. The incident is under investigation. 12:40 p.m. 3000 block of Linda Vista, report of smoke inside a residence. Firefighters arrived and determined smoke was coming from a malfunctioning clothes dryer. There was no emergency. Firefighters ventilated smoke from the home, and advised the homeowner to make necessary repairs. 4:53 p.m. 2200 block of Buena Vista Avenue, apartment fire alarm.

Fire responses: 9:42 a.m. Fountain Street, block number not given, citizen assist; 11:23 a.m. 500 block of Wind River Way, commercial fire alarm; 4:05 p.m. Grand Street, block number not given, report of a residential electrical problem causing smoke inside a residence. Crewmembers determined that a wall outlet shorted out, causing the outlet to smoke. They turned off the electricity and checked for any possible fire inside the wall, but found none. Firefighters advised the resident to have an electrician inspect the wiring and make necessary repairs.
