Fire responses: 1:48 p.m. 1100 block of Marina Village Parkway, commercial fire alarm.

• 4:46 p.m. Maitland Drive, block number not given, report of an apartment kitchen fire. Firefighters met with the occupant who said that he had already put out a small stovetop fire with his fire extinguisher. Firefighters made sure that the fire was completely out and had not spread. They cleared the apartment of residual smoke and notified the manager.

• 7:56 p.m. 1000 block of Verdemar Drive, report of a residential kitchen fire. Firefighters met with the homeowner who said that there was no fire, but food had burned on the stove. Firefighters turned off the power to the stove and made certain that there was no fire. They cleared the home of all residual smoke.

• 10:30 p.m. 2300 block of Clinton Avenue, report of water flooding a residence. Firefighters met with the homeowners who said that a broken water pipe was causing water to flood their home. Firefighters turned off the main water valve, helped removed the standing water and advised the homeowners to call a plumber.

• 3:39 p.m. Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway, block number not given, report of a parked vehicle with smoke coming from the engine. Firefighters made certain that there was no fire. They disconnected the vehicle’s battery, contacted the Alameda Police Department and called for a tow truck.

number not given, report of smoke inside a residence. Firefighters determined the smoke was coming from an overheated sump pump. They turned off the power to the pump and advised the homeowner to replace the device.

• 2:56 p.m. 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue, report of a residential carbon monoxide alarm activation. Firefighters used an atmospheric monitor to confirm the presence of carbon monoxide. The firefighters on the scene checked the fittings on the home’s gas appliances and ventilated residence. The crew then called Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and turned the scene over to the PG&E crewmembers when they arrived.
