Crewmembers made certain that the fire was completely out. They reported the incident to the Alameda Police Department as suspicious in nature.

Fire responses: 3:34 p.m. 2600 block of Buena Vista Avenue, apartment fire alarm; 6:30 p.m. 2200 block of Shore Line Drive, report of smoke in a building. Firefighters determined smoke was coming from a malfunctioning rooftop heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit. They turned off the power to the HVAC unit and advised the property owner to make necessary repairs.

Fire response: 4:16 p.m. 1600 block of Moreland Drive, residential fire alarm.
Fire responses: 12:11 a.m. Austin Street, report of a sheared off fire hydrant. Firefighters arrived to see water shooting out of the hydrant. They turned off the water and called the East Bay Municipal
Utilities District (EBMUD) to make necessary repairs. 3:18 p.m. 2600 block of San Jose Avenue, report of a residential structure fire. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a second-floor window of the home. They aggressively attacked the fire and quickly extinguished the blaze. There were no reported injuries. The cause is under investigation.
