Fire responses: 8:45 a.m. 1400 block of Central Avenue, residential electrical short. Firefighters advised resident to have an electrician inspect and make necessary repairs before turning power back on. 12:31 p.m. 1100 block of Regent Street, malfunctioning residential wall heat with no fire. Firefighters turned off the power to the heater, and advised resident to have the heater inspected before using it again. 2:08 p.m. 2200 block of Encinal Avenue, commercial fire alarm; 4:24 p.m. 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue, apartment fire alarm;

Fire responses: 7:08 a.m. Santa Clara Avenue, block number not given, apartment fire alarm; 7:57 p.m. 900 block of Shorepoint Court, apartment fire alarm; 9:01 p.m. 100 block of Central Avenue, arcing power lines. Firefighter’s contacted Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) and requested its evaluation at the scene. Firefighters turned the scene over to AMP when its crew arrived. 9:24 a.m. 2200 block of Pacific Avenue, apartment fire alarm; 9:44 p.m. Buena Vista Avenue, block number not given, discarded couch on fire. Firefighters used a booster line to extinguish the small blaze. They notified the Alameda Police Department; the cause of the fire is under investigation; 10:46 p.m. 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue, apartment fire alarm.

Fire responses: 1:51 a.m. 2100 block of Santa Clara Avenue, smoke inside an apartment. Firefighter’s found unattended burning food on the stove, but no fire. They turned off the power to the stove and removed the burned food. They also ventilated the residual smoke from the home. 6:56 a.m. Lincoln Avenue, block number not given, apartment fire alarm; 3:51 p.m. 2000 block of Santa Clara Avenue, apartment fire alarm.

Saturday, March 22

Fire responses: 12:40 a.m. Fernside Boulevard, block number not given, report of a vehicle leaking fuel. Firefighters’ located the vehicle and used absorbent to contain the fuel leaking from the ruptured gas tank. They also stopped the fuel from entering the storm drain. Firefighters called NRC Environmental Services to clean-up of the fuel that had spilled into the storm drain before they arrived.
