Fire responses: 6:51 p.m. 1200 block of Park Street, small fuel spill at a gas station. Firefighters used absorbent to contain and remove fuel from the concrete and properly disposed of the absorbent after use. 7:57 p.m. Encinal Avenue, block number not given, small spilled bottle of transmission fluid found on the street. Firefighters used absorbent to remove the fluid from the street and properly disposed of the absorbent after use.

Fire responses: 9:28 a.m. 100 block of Cypress Street, clothes dryer fire. Crewmembers extinguished a small lint fire in the dryer and ventilated the home of residual smoke. 5:27 p.m. 2100 block of Monarch Street, commercial fire alarm.

Fire responses: 11:51 a.m. 2000 block of San Jose Avenue, residential fire alarm; 11:37 p.m. Shore Line Drive, block number not given, small bonfire on the beach. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and explained the city’s no-burning ordinance. 
 

Saturday, April 12

Fire responses: 11:01 a.m. 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue, cooking grease fire. Firefighters met with the resident. She told them that she had already put the fire out. Crewmembers inspected the area and confirmed that the fire was out and it had not spread into the wall. They ventilated the residual smoke and notified the apartment manager. 1:18 p.m. 1100 block of Park Avenue, clothes dryer fire. Firefighters spoke with the resident who explained that he had already put out a lint fire in his dryer Crewmembers inspected the area and confirmed that the fire was out. They disconnected the dryer and told the resident to have the dryer inspected and repaired before using it again; 8:29 p.m. 1800 block of Second Street in Berkeley. Engine 2 responded into the city of Berkeley’s request for mutual aid in connection with a large warehouse fire. Alameda firefighters provided support and stayed on scene until the Berkeley Fire Department cleared them to return to Alameda.
