The Alameda Fire Department (AFD has been responding to dozens of emergencies due to the intense rain and wind on Tuesday, March 21. These incidents include wires down, trees down into roadways and buildings, as well as this tree onto a vehicle on Central Avenue at Page Street.

The driver of a vehicle was trapped after his vehicle was struck by a fallen tree at approximately 4:16 pm Tuesday afternoon. Alameda Firefighters rescued the solo occupant with moderate injuries by removing portions of the large tree and extricating him from his vehicle that had sustained significant damage. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

AFD continues to work with Public Works and our utility partners as we respond to these incidents involving down trees and power lines.
