Susan Ferrera posted the low net score of the day at the Alameda Women’s Golf Club competition Thursday, Jan. 27. Ferrera posted a net 66. She also posted the best gross score of the day with an 80.

The club held their Thursday play day at Metropolitan Golf Course in Oakland with 48 golfers on the course. Alice Wong won the closest-to-the-pin competition on hole 7 with her drive landing 8’1” from the hole.

There were six flights with handicaps ranging from four to 40. Jenny Bae won flight 1 with a net 70 followed by Lynn Jones in second place with a net 74. Kari Vadnais came in a close third place one stroke behind Jones at a net 75. Siobhan Curley and Lynn Kobatake posted net 76 to tie for fourth place, while Carole Pillow and Val Buschor both posted a net 77 to tie for sixth place. Stephanie Bellato finished with a net 81.

Ferrera’s net 66, the big winner of the day, won flight 2. Julie Peele posted a net 68 with Tracy Perkins one stroke behind at net 69. Christina Bailey finished the day at net 74, Maggie Lindquist shot a net 77, Claire Loud shot a net 80, Debbie Adams posted a net 86 and Denise Link posted a net 90.

Sia Scates topped flight 3 with a net 70. Jeanne Burke shot a net 71 for second place. Alice Wong and Flor Ventanilla tied for third place with net 72s. Sonia Kwak finished the day at net 79, Kimiko Hiyoshi at net 80, Madeline Sally at net 84 and Judy Eng at net 87.

Flight 4 competition was tight. Sandi Kaney won the flight with a net 71. Close behind was Barbara Mickle and Connie Bates at net 73 to tie for second place. Peggy Marcenaro and Renee Brown tied fourth place at net 77. Louise Eilhardt posted a net 78, Rita Kae Restrepo a net 79 and Ann Ching a net 90.

Susan Yoon took first place flight 5 with a net 65 followed by Mary Gong in second place at 72. Diane Hughes and Barbara Mehan tied for third place at 78. Finishing flight 5 was Denise Gasti at net 81, Siv Richards at net 84 and Mary Jo Knight and Jean Cho tied for a net 85.

Flight 6 was led by Vivan Kang in first place with a net 67 followed by Ruby Fong in second place posting a net 69. Coming in third was Lynne Frey at 75 followed closely by Carolee Ziegenhagen at net 76 and Pamela Curtis at net 77. Kay Choi finished at net 78, Beverly Blatt at net 86 and Connie Wendling at net 95.
