Twin Towers United Methodist Church, 1411 Oak St., will host the sixth Women in Military History event at noon, Saturday, March 15. The celebration honors the military service of all women of all eras. An honor guard will welcome guests.
This year, the Have a Heart Gala which benefits Alameda’s Midway Shelter will honor the shelter’s founder, Ginny Krutilek for her 25 years of service. The gala is slated for Saturday, March 29, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Alameda Elks Lodge, 2255 Santa Clara Ave.
Managers of Alameda’s Harbor Bay and Main Street ferry services and city officials are hosting a pair of public hearings this month to gauge riders’ interest in increasing service and to discuss ways to improve access to both terminals.
