Alameda residents John Cashman, Diane Runyan and Nita Greganti are once again joining the AIDS LifeCycle bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles travelling 545 miles to support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF).
The Alameda Marketplace announced recently it will be sharing a brand, new parking lot under construction at the intersection of Park Street, Tilden Way and Lincoln Avenue.
Alameda students in grades nine through 12 who have written speeches with the theme: “Celebrating the Legacy of Nelson Mandela” will receive cash awards for their efforts Saturday, March 22, noon to 2 p.m. at the Alameda Main Library, 1550 Oak St.
Alameda resident Annette Sandoval is a prolific writer who often sets her works in the Bay Area. Women Are Like Chickens is her latest novel, the story of four Mexican American friends raised in San Francisco during the 1980s.
In support and recognition of children battling cancer, Alameda resident Marianna Martinez, 11, participated in the St. Baldrick’s Day event at Oakland Children’s Hospital.
