Farmers Catch Jets Off Balance
Encinal High School (EHS) men’s basketball team lost to Hayward High School,42-38, on Jan. 21 at home. The Farmers (7-5) snapped the Jets’ (6-4) three-game winning streak.
“We definitely thought we were going to win every game in league,” said EHS senior Jacob Baca. “So, it knocked us down in the moment, but we came back together in practice and flushed the loss.”
Encinal was the preseason favorite to win the West Alameda County Conference Shoreline League. They are currently in second place in the six-team league, behind the Farmers.
The Jets will look to get revenge against the Farmers when they meet again on Feb. 11. The Jets’ next game is against Tennyson High of Hayward on Jan. 27 on the road.
