Everyone Belongs Here Poster Contest Entry Deadline Set
Alameda students are invited to enter the “Everyone Belongs Here” poster contest by Tuesday, April 30. The theme this year is “Every Pronoun Belongs Here.” Through original art and writing, entrants must use the pronoun she, he, they, ze, hir or co in place of formal names, and that regardless of that pronoun the individual is a part of the community, a citizen and accepts all citizens.
The contest is open to students in fourth to 12th grade and may take the form of a poem, poster or both. Awards will be given to winners in two categories: fourth to eighth grade and ninth to 12th grade. The overall winning poster will be reproduced and displayed in Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) schools and offices.
Submissions can be sent to Susan Davis at the AUSD offices, 2060 Challenger Dr., or dropped off at Books Inc., 1344 Park St. All entries must have name, school, teacher, email address and phone number included.
