Encinal Bounces Back

Encinal High School men’s basketball team went 1-1 last week. The Jets lost, 41-39, to St. Mary’s High of Albany on Dec. 15 before bouncing back to defeat Piedmont High School, 64-60, on Dec. 17. Both games were on the road. The Jets are now 4-3 on the season.

“It was really important,” said senior Jacob Baca. “We were on a three-game winning streak and played a good game when we lost, so to bounce back against a real tough team was important.”

The Jets moved to a box-and-one defensive after the half to shut down one of the Piedmont Highlanders’ players.

“I think we did a good job of not folding under pressure when we were down, and overall kept doing what we were supposed to do to win the game,” said junior Diego Cerna.

EHS faces Tennyson High of Hayward on Jan. 5.

Alameda High
Alameda High School men’s basketball team defeated Terra Linda High of San Rafael, 67-35, on Dec. 18. The Hornets are 5-2 and face Tamalpais High of Mill Valley on Dec. 28.
