Encinal’s Model UN Attends Debate Conference

Encinal High School’s Model United Nations (MUN) attended UC Berkeley’s Fall Conference Nov. 12-13.

“I’ve attended online conferences before, but this is my first in person conference,” said Encinal senior Sophia Tramel. “I think it’s been a lot more interesting than any Model UN event I’ve attended in the past. My focus is the Salem Witch trials and we’ve gotten to discuss the validity of accusations and how to handle witchcraft (from the perspective of the townspeople).”

The conference is a crisis oriented MUN event to help delegates of all experience levels familiarize themselves with MUN procedure in practice.

“It was actually pretty fun,” said senior Vivian Barber. “This conference we got to engage a lot more and I learned a lot from other people.”

Encinal freshman Eugene Krueger and junior Oliva Gomez received commendations for their individual performances.
