EBMUD to Start Emergency Sewer Repairs on Buena Vista Avenue
EBMUD to Start Emergency Sewer Repairs on Buena Vista Avenue
In October, the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) will start the work to repair their sewer along segments of Buena Vista Avenue. Construction will extend to February 2023. This major project is being undertaken as an emergency to address possible pipeline failure and the potential for sinkholes, according to a City of Alameda press release.
This project calls for EBMUD to repair infrastructure along Buena Vista between Ohlone and Eighth streets. This work will require excavation at three locations along Buena Vista. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with some additional work on Saturdays.
During this project, parts of Buena Vista will be closed in the west bound direction 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Trucks will be diverted from Buena Vista to Lincoln Avenue, between Grand Street and Constitution Way, and street parking will be restricted. EBMUD will work to control odor; however, there may be intermittent impacts.
An exact start date for the construction was not disclosed but should be announced soon.
