On Dec. 28, 2015, the Alameda Free Library screened the PBS documentary The City Dark. Inspired by that showing, the library is soliciting entries for a community art project.
Participants should create — in art forms of their choice — a piece for display in the library.
While the marathon City Council meeting focused largely on the rental crisis in town (see story on this page), the 10-and-one-half hour session that began with a closed session at 5:30 p.m. and recessed at 3:59 a.m. covered other topics. These included two that touched on Alameda Point.
The California Bureau of Real Estate has filed a complaint against Alameda landlord Don Lindsey. As a founding member of Alamedans for Fair Rents, an organization of the city’s property owners and managers, Lindsey has stood front and center in the recent rent debate in the city.
Alameda Point Partners (APP) has been working with design consultants, park planners, a Planning Board subcommittee and city staff to prepare detailed designs for the individual buildings and parks within Site A.
