Downtown Hosts 24th Classic Car Show

Another widely popular Alameda event took place this past weekend: the 24th annual Park Street Classic Car Show. This year marked a particular milestone in the event’s history since one of the show’s founders, Duane Watson, announced his retirement. Watson, the owner of Lee Auto Supply on Park Street, receives help from the Crankers Car Club and many volunteers to produce the car show. He has an unbroken chain of success with the event, which grew from a handful of cars in its original form, to the more than 400 cars along four blocks of the city’s main drag. Above, in the early morning as the show just came together, car collectors compared notes on their respective vehicles.
