From the Desk of Linda Asbury - Executive Director

I for one am so thankful to be part of this amazing community — even more so after being a part of the Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 16. There are always so many people involved with an event like this and I want to take a minute to thank them all.

First off, to all the friends and families who attended, thank you for showing up in the rain!
To Millie and her staff at east Ocean Seafood Restaurant, thank you for the wonderful food.
To Josephine and everyone at the Toi Shan Family Association, thank you for the amazing lion dance and culture. A special shout out to the Tai Zhi and children’s dancers too!

I also need to call out the support the West Alameda Business Association (WABA) gets from the City of Alameda, The Pacific Coast Farmer’s Market (for sharing the space and donating the carrot cash) and the West End Arts and Entertainment District.

WABA was thrilled that Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft and Vice Mayor John Knox White could join the fun, along with Tony Daysog (City Councilmember and West End resident).

I personally would like to thank the WABA board of directors and its talented staff for all they do!
Lastly, but oh so importantly, thank you to Melissa Rivers for capturing the whole event through her magical eyes and lens (as seen in the photo here.)

WABA is looking forward to making this a signature event for the West End and has hopes to expand its footprint in the coming years.

As always, it is a great pleasure to represent and advocate for West Alameda, a neighborhood I call home. I can be reached at linda@westalameda or 523-5955.
