Cross Currents Exhibition Set to Open Today

Deborah Griffin’s “Aloft” will be among the works displayed at Cross Currents, opening Saturday, Aug. 9 with a reception at Alameda Museum

Juried show features 21 local artists

Now in its eighth year, Cross Currents, an exhibition of works by 21 California artists opens today in the Alameda Museum Gallery. An opening reception set for Saturday, Aug. 9, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. will offer refreshments, music and opportunities to talk with the exhibiting artists.

The show runs through Saturday, Aug. 30.

The 21 selected artists are: Karen Allen, Barbara Buhrz, Renee Doty, Deborah Griffin, Rosalind Harper, Virginia Haynes, George Humphreys, Glenna Mills, Jeanie Moran, Ana Music-Anderson, Cyrus Ng, Dotti Reisbord, Sara Richardson, Cherylene Robison, Kathleen Schwab, Ralph Smith, Arlene Risi Streich, Demetra Theofanous, Ginger Tolonen, Jan Wall and Emily Weil.

The show is juried by the Island Alliance of the Arts Committee.

Alameda Museum is located at 2324 Alameda Ave. The museum is open Wednesday through Friday and Sunday, 1:30 to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 521-1233 for more details.
