County Hosts Workshops for Artists

The Alameda County Arts Commission invites artists to attend one of two grant-application workshops to learn about the 2014 Artsfund grants program. The commission will host a workshop next Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the county’s Lakeside Plaza Building, 401 Lakeside Dr. in Oakland. The second workshop is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Ave., in Livermore.

Interested parties are asked to contact the commission at artscommission@acgov.org or call 208-9646 to reserve a seat. Standard grants awards are $1,000 each and the application deadline is March 5.

The program supports all types of arts programming such as dance, literature, media arts, music, theater, visual arts, as well as multidisciplinary arts programs presented in Alameda County by Alameda County nonprofit organizations. Last year’ program awarded grants of $1,000 to $2,500 to 48 nonprofits and plans to award grants to between 40-50 arts organizations this year.
