Cool Kids Summer Stuff Coming up at the Library

The Alameda Main Library has many events coming up this summer for young people in Alameda.

• Teen Room Takeover: The Teen Advisory Board invites local teens, ages 13 to 18 only, to take over the Teen Room at the Main Library Thursday, July 6, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Join other teens to play Minute to Win It, a game where players complete funny challenges using household objects with just 60 seconds on the clock. Includes dessert. The library will provide all the supplies, challenges, and prizes for this event. RSVP to Teen Librarian Hallie at hfields@alamedaca.gov.

• The Summer Reading Challenge for all ages runs June 1 through July 31. Everyone can play, read and win. Grab the online tracker from www.alamedafree.org or ask a staff member to help.

• Teen Book Club: Club members have the chance to read advance copies of books before they’re published. Discuss favorite books, trade and make bookish friends. Meet Wednesday, July 12 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Main Library Stafford Room. Free copies are provided courtesy of the Friends of the Alameda Free Library.

• The Teen Advisory Board will meet directly after the Teen Book Club meeting and book club members are invited.

Contact Hallie Fields at hfields@alamedca.gov or by calling the Reference Desk at 747-7713 to RSVP for any of these events or with any questions about the book club or advisory board. Alameda Free Library is located at 1550 Oak St.
