Community Workshop on Clement Avenue/Tilden Way Improvement Project Scheduled

City staff is asking community members to participate in the first round of stakeholder engagement for the Clement Avenue/Tilden Way Improvement Project.

City staff is holding a virtual community workshop on Wednesday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. Staff is also holding an In-person Open House at the Alameda Main Library, 1550 Oak St., on Thursday, May 19 at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Clement Avenue Extension/Tilden Way project uses the abandoned railroad right-of-way along the eastern terminus of Clement Avenue and Tilden Way to extend the Cross Alameda Trail between Broadway and the Miller-Sweeney/Fruitvale Rail Bridges. The project also will consider ways to improve the truck and bus routes in this area. This project connects directly to the city’s Clement Avenue Complete Street project, and to the City of Oakland’s planned and funded Fruitvale Avenue improvements.

In 2017, the Alameda County Transportation Commission awarded a grant to the City of Alameda for $8.4 million to implement this project. This project is funded by Measure BB, Alameda County’s transportation sales tax.
