Commercial Fire at Alameda Point

Alameda Fire Department (AFD) were called to Alameda Point to extinguish a blaze late afternoon on Monday, July 25.

AFD personnel received calls of a greater alarm commercial fire on the 600 block of West Ranger Ave. As of 5 p.m. on Monday, AFD firefighters were engaged in a defensive fire attack in a large commercial dwelling, according to AFD. No other structures were immediately threatened and there were no reported injuries to community members or firefighters as of 5 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Oakland Fire Department personnel is providing mutual aid at the scene. Alameda fire stations are being covered by Alameda County Fire Department personnel.

Alameda residents are asked to avoid the area if they can. Nearby residents are being asked to close their windows to limit exposure and stay inside if you notice irritating smoke.
