Come Enjoy Blues, Brews & Barbecue this Sunday!
The fifth annual Alameda “Blues, Brews & BBQ” festival, presented by the West End Arts & Entertainment takes place this Sunday, Sept. 15, from noon to 6 p.m. The festival on Alameda’s historic Webster Street between Central and Santa Clara avenues features award-winning blues bands, barbecue vendors competing for prizes, craft vendors and a kids zone. The event is free, family and pet friendly.
This year’s entertainment lineup includes:
- 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Jackson & the Immortals performs Blues and Soul.
- 2 to 3 p.m.: Otilia & The Back Alley Boys performs Blues and Rock.
- 3 to 3:30 p.m. Barbecue competition winners announced.
- 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Aki Kumar Blues Band performs Bollywood Blues.
- 5 to 6 p.m.: Stompy Jones performs Jump Blues and Boogie.
- 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.: DJ Tom LG spins vinyl blues records in the Deep Eddy Vodka trailer.
Building on last year’s event that attracted more than 5,000 visitors to Webster Street, the 2019 festival will welcome more barbecue vendors and craft beer purveyors than ever before.
Barbecue and food vendors inclue: Phat Matt’s Barbecue, The Locos Truck, Roderick’s
Barbecue Truck, Uncle Willie’s Original Barbecue and Fish, Speer Family Barbecue Speerbbq, Mae Mae’s Kitchen, The Cupcake Shoppe, Hook You Up Catering & Barbecue, Got Italian Ice, Tante’s, Shannon Cooks, Vegan Mob serving vegan barbecue, and more. And don’t forget the barbecue vendors will be aiming to impress and earn the title of “Best in Class Barbecue.”
Bay Area craft brewers will pour everything from sours to saisons. The lineup includes: Alameda Island Brewing Company, Golden State Cider, Ale Industries, Old Kan Beer and Co., Pine Street Brewery, Faction Brewing, Eight Bridges Brewing, Blindwood Cider Company, Oakland United Beerworks, 21st Amendment Brewery, Anderson Valley Brewing Company, HenHouse Brewing Company, North Coast Brewing Co., High Water Brewing, Anchor Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Drake’s Brewing Co., Sierra Nevada Brewery and many more.
“We were thrilled with the success of the event last year,” said Sandy Russell, owner of the Fireside Lounge and president of the West End Arts District. “This year we are building on that with bigger bands, more food, and, of course, more beer to celebrate the local craft beer scene!”
In addition to the blues, brews and barbecue, attendees will have the opportunity to peruse locally crafted wares from vendors from throughout the Bay.
The event is sponsored by the West Alameda Business Association and Deep Eddy Vodka. Proceeds benefit the West End Arts District and their efforts to promote a more vibrant, creative and colorful West End district.
