College Hosts Health Fair

Mike Lano    Local residents could take advantage of several informational booths at the College of Alameda Health Fair last Thursday.

The College of Alameda held a Health and Wellness Fair for the public on Thursday, Oct. 12, with a variety of booths including a destressing station. A stage was packed with non-stop singers, dancers, actors and athletes throughout the event.

Mariner Square Athletic Club and Cafe Muse restaurant head chef and owner Juliet Lockwood coordinated the event, which included several health and wellness instructors from the club and several members donating their time all day. The various booths provided information on health causes.

There were painting stations for kids, adults and students. College of Alameda students were very enthusiastic.

“We look forward to this every year and this was the fourth one,” said Janelle Kofman. “It was nice to focus on health and mental wellness for an hour rather than hearing all the horror stories out of Washington or the weekly national tragedies like the Wine Country fire we’re all concerned with the rest of the time.”
