Joi Lin Blake
The Peralta Community College District board of trustees has appointed Dr. Joi Lin Blake as the next president of the College of Alameda.
Blake is currently the vice president of student services at Skyline College in San Bruno. She will start her job as college president on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Blake has a Bachelor of Arts degree in health science from San Francisco State University. She also holds a Master of Science degree and a doctorate in education from San Diego State University.
She served as dean of student development and matriculation at San Diego Mesa College. She worked in Washington, D.C., as a policy assistant and doctoral intern for the U.S. Department of Education. Her duties in Washington included helping to develop a national strategic plan for community colleges.
"I am looking forward to working with Dr. Blake as we move forward not only at the College of Alameda, but throughout the entire Peralta Community College District," said Chancellor José M. Ortiz. "The search committee did an outstanding job forwarding four finalists for my consideration, and I consider Dr. Blake to be the best fit for the college and the Peralta District."
