Club Crowns New Champion

The Alameda Women’s Golf Club (AWGC) has a new club champion. After three weeks of play, Carole Pillow won the trophy for the best overall gross score on Sept. 22. Over three weeks Pillow shot scores of 87-86-81 for a total net of 254. Tai Chewpanich finished second with an overall net 256 after three rounds.

Last year’s club champion Stephanie Bellato came in third place with a gross score of net 265, while Lynn Kobatake finished in fourth place posting a total net 276.

The AWGC played there three rounds of the club championship on Sept. 8, 15, 22. Pillow also led after round one. Her net 87 gave her a one-shot lead over Chewpanich who shot a net 88 in round one. During the three rounds of golf, the participants had to overcome blistering temperatures, but managed to continue on with the tournament.

The championship is one of six major tournaments that the AWGC plays each year. The women golfers will complete the 2022 AWGC season in November.
