City Advises Residents Avoid Scam Ad

Recently, the City of Alameda became aware of a misleading advertisement mailed by “OaklandUpgrade.com” to some Alameda residents. The mailer references a new program for home improvements, including solar, heating, air conditioning, roofing, windows and more.

The city has advised residents that the mailer was not sent, approved or sponsored by the city. The city also did not authorize the use of its name in the mailer or any others like it. Accordingly, the city is concerned that this misleading advertisement may target vulnerable members of the community.

Questions or concerns about the mailer (or other similar advertisements), may be directed to John Le in the City Attorney’s office at 747-4764.
