Blaze Overheats Red Barons on Father’s Day
The Alameda Blaze 10-and-under girls’ softball team (above) won all six of their games over the June 14-16 weekend to win the Petaluma Father’s Day NorCal ASA Tournament.
The Blaze routed the Santa Rosa Red Barons, 14-6, in the title game. The match was stopped in the sixth inning after the Blaze overmatched the Barons by 8 due to the mercy rule coming into effect.
The team was extraordinarily dominant in its six games. They won each game by at least seven runs. In the first contest they took down the Pleasant Hill Panthers, 21-0. They followed up with a 13-1 victory over the Rohnert Park Rebels. Their hot streak continued with a 13-1 win over the Marin Tremors. They defeated the Petaluma Steel Breeze, 7-0, in the quarterfinal match. Finally, they took down the Sonoma Revolution, 12-0, in the semifinal.
The Alameda Blaze will next take part in the Metro NorCal Championship Tournament this weekend in Hayward.
