Blaze Begin Spring Season

The Alameda Girls Softball Association Blaze 10U Red – Goldin team played their first games of the 2023 spring season last weekend. The team competed in the All-Star Tournament Sweet 16 event in Sacramento.

The team, coached by Joy Goldin, was placed in Pool B. They started the tournament on March 18, with a matchup against SC Swat 10U Turner. The Blaze lost, 6-3, to the team from Fairfield. The Blaze lost their second game of the day in a closely contested 6-5 game to the San Jose Spartans. In their last game of the day, the Blaze rebounded from their two earlier defeats with a 11-7 victory over the NorCal Blast 10U.

The event was scheduled to take place on both Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19. But Sunday’s matchups were rained out. The Blaze ended the tournament finishing fourth out of five teams in Pool B. Eleven teams competed in the two-day event. All games were played at Freedom Park.
