Bellato Sweeps for the July Charm
Stephanie Bellato swept all winning categories on her way to win the Alameda Women’s Golf Club’s July Charm last Thursday, July 3, on the Earl Fry Course.
Bellato shot the lowest net score with a net 67 — the event standings were based on each golfer’s net score. She also had the lowest gross score with an overall 77 and she shot the lowest number of putts with 29.
Bellato competed in the first flight — handicap of 10 to 22. Winning the competition and her flight group was not easy for Bellato. Bernice Herzberg and Tai Chewpanich both were one stroke behind Bellato, shooting matching net 68s to tie for second place in the first flight and the overall tournament. Dot Moody and Fran Mori tied for fourth place in the flight with a pair of net 73s.
Louise Eilhardt and Bev Blatt tied for third place in the overall competition with net 69s. Eilhardt played in the third flight — handicap of 28 to 33. Kay Park and Linda Ferrill tied for second in the flight group with matching net 72s. Pam Curtis and Ruby Soo both shot a net 77 to tie for fourth place in the third flight. Blatt competed in the fourth flight — handicap of 36 to 40. Blatt was undeniably the best in her flight. Her closest competition was Donna Cooper who shot a net 82. Connie Wendling shot a net 83 for second place.
Pat O’ Hara won the second flight grouping — handicap of 24 to 27 — with a net 70. Jackie Suh shot a net 73 for second place, while Barbara Mickle shot a net 77 for third place in the flight.
Judy Eng won the closest-to-the-hole competition on the fourth hole by shooting her ball 14’ 6” from the pin. Norma Arnerich won the competition on the 15th hole when her ball landed 3’ 7” from the pin.
