Teacher Will Green encouraged his students to submit essays about which of the 13 colonies they would have represented in the Second Continental Congress (which met from May 1775 to March 1781) and what they would have wanted to accomplish for their colony. Three students submitted essays and all three won at the local level. Benjamin Serrano won first place, Atlee Hamilton won second place, and Sophia Zarhouni won third.

The students and their families will get to attend a Celebratory Tea and presentation in February in Moraga, and all three are now eligible to center the state-wide contest.
